About Joel

Howdy 🤠, my name is Joel Casarez, and I’m the founder of The Kaanen Group.

I started The Kaanen Group in 2012 to help businesses get better results from SEO and Google Ads. Over the years, I’ve helped hundreds of companies with search engine marketing in Austin and throughout the United States.

I’ve trained business owners and other digital marketers on SEO and Google Ads, one-on-one and at events at ProductCamp and Geekdom.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
I’m passionate about digital marketing and spend roughly 20-30% of my time researching and testing new digital marketing techniques to make sure you stay ahead of your competitors.

LONG TERM PARTNERSHIPS
I don’t believe in the vendor-client relationship. I strongly believe in building long-term partnerships built on long-term success. My goal is to exceed your goals (and your expectations). My longest-lasting client has been with me for over seven years.

Some Fun Facts About Me

  1. I graduated with a Bachelors in Business Management with a Concentration in Entrepreneurship at Texas State University in 2008.
  2. The first Google Ads account I managed was for YETI Coolers.
  3. I’m an Eagle Scout. 🦅
  4. I’m a huge fan of stand-up comedy and performed at 165 open mics.
  5. After seeing an unflattering photo of me in 2018, I started working out and lost over 28 lbs. Now, working out is part of my daily routine.
  6. I started a podcast with my best friends and recorded over 100 episodes.
  7. I own a robot. It won’t be taking over the world yet, but it does an excellent job serving drinks and playing music.
  8. In 2009, I had the opportunity to provide Siri (yes, that Siri) founders with data on mobile device usage.
  9. I’ve been tinkering with WordPress since 2007.

As an apprentice in the 3rd DCI cohort, it was such a great experience to have Joel Casarez as our instructor for our Ad Words workshop. Mr. Casarez gave us a look into the real word application of ad words best practices as he led us through some of the campaigns he’s worked through. Each team in our cohort had the opportunity to share their current PPC project and get feedback and advice. What each team found most helpful was being able to get hands on as we pulled each campaign up and worked on an aspect together getting Joel's feedback and expertise as well. I would highly recommend him as an instructor, his enthusiasm and proficiency made the workshop fun and easy to understand.
